Today I received Life & Food Brand Yacon Syrup which is organic, raw, and NON GMO.  I tasted it right away. I decided to wait until the next day to make pancakes and add it to the syrup we already have.  The serving size is 1 teaspoon, up to three times a day.

I added about 1 tablespoon of the Yacon Syrup to 1 cup of regular maple syrup.  The taste is sweet on it's own but I wanted to add the benefits of the yacon to my regular syrup.  There was a little aftertaste to the complete syrup mixture.  It was not bad but it was noticeable.  

The next day, I had 1 teaspoon in my morning tea.  It was beautiful tasting in my hot tea.  I couldn't tell it wasn't sweetened with sugar.  I do add a little almond milk to my tea as well.  




EDIT JULY 6th 2014:  I have used this for over a month for a few days each week.  The main reason for wanting to try yacon syrup was that it helps regulate your bowels better.  I have noticed a positive change in that department.  I won't go into details but I have had IBS for about 7 years now and it seemed to help.  

It is also great for your kidneys, has probiotics, and lowers blood sugar for diabetics.  The amazon page where this was purchased says it has antioxidants.  I researched a little and the top two antioxidants extracted from yacon root is chlorogenic acid and tryptophan.  It is also said that tryptophan helps depression.  Chlorogenic acid is what helps in the blood sugar area.

I think this is a super food.  It should be a staple in vegetarians or vegans for sure.  It definitely should be a part of anyone suffering from diabetes or bowel flare-ups.  It is really easy to use in your coffee or tea every day.  This is a good investment for your health.  I am thankful I found out about Life & Food Yacon Syrup.  I believe it will continually help me obtain optimal health.

FREE Matcha Green Tea Powder by Kiss Me Organics and REVIEW

Today I received a Free 4 ounce bag of Matcha Green Powder Tea by Kiss Me Organics.  You guessed it, it is Organic.  It is culinary grade, so you can add it to drinks, tea, and bakery items. It was darker in color than I was expecting, about this color --> O.
The serving size is 1/2 to 1 tsp.  It says it will give you energy for 4-6 hours both as a stimulant and relaxant.  I was excited to try this because of that statement in the description at Amazon.  I have a hard time with caffeine, as it makes me jittery.  I was worried about using such a potent green tea powder, so I started off with 1/2 teaspoon in my smoothies.  It did not alter the taste of my 12 ounce fruit smoothie at all.  I didn't notice a huge boost in my energy, but I did notice I didn't want to take a nap in the middle of the day like I usually do.  I made it through a long day with just 1/2 teaspoons.  I decided that I would not try 1 teaspoon, as the 1/2 teaspoon serving seemed just right for me.  I did not feel jittery at all ever during the day or after I drank my smoothie with the Matcha Green Tea Powder in it.  I like the convenient resealable pouch that it comes in.  I am happy with this product for what I am using it for.  It is too early to tell if it has changed my skin, which it claims it does through improving blood flow and oxygen levels.  If Matcha Green Tea Powder can help with oxygen levels, I am interested in seeing if it will help with my asthma or if it's just for skin.  This is a good product.  It is made in China.  But here's what the company has to say about that, directly from their Amazon Q & A:

I still recommend using Kiss Me Organics Matcha Green Tea Powder because it is Organic and it did give me a steady, gradual feel of not being exhausted.  I liked that it just felt natural and that I wasn't on speed or something.  Usually green tea in any form makes me hyper and has a crash at the end.  This product did not do that for me.  I am happy and relieved!  I plan on continuing to use this anytime I have a smoothie, which is a few times a week.  Let's see how it does on my skin and maybe even my asthma?

FREE Dead Sea Salt Deep Hair Conditioner by Adovia & REVIEW

Today I received a free 7.4 ounce bottle of Adovia's Dead Sea Salt Deep Hair Conditioner - Deeply Hydrating and Nourishing on Scalp & Hair

It smells good, but nothing like the sea or salt or anything.  It is more of a flower soapy smell.  It is white, just like salt, but is not gritty like salt.  It is smooth.

Anytime I go into the ocean, my naturally curly hair always gets more curlier.  I am contributing that to the salt in the ocean.  The ringlets get pretty perfect.  I always said I need to bottle up the salt water in the ocean to rinse my hair at home to get my curls like that all the time.  Well I was expecting those same results because I read "Sea Salt", thinking it would be salty.  It is not salty.  If it wasn't called Dead Sea Salt Conditioner, I would never know some of the ingredients were from the Ocean.

It made my hair feel very soft though.  I have no heavy mousse or hairspray buildup on my scalp either.  

EDIT: June 21th.  I've used this product for almost a month and I do like it.  I do not notice a different look to my hair, but the feel is more smooth. If you have dry hair and problems with split ends or dry scalp, I bet this will work for you.  I have dry curly hair so I have to use a conditioner ALWAYS.  The combination of both the Conditioner and Adovia's Dead Sea Mud Shampoo, made my hair silky soft yet oil free.  I still have to use a mouse or hair gel to keep my hair from frizzing though.  See my review for the Adovia's Dead Sea Mud Shampoo here.  I have good ringlets with this routine.  Dead Sea Mud Shampoo, Dead Sea Salt Conditioner, hair gel or mousse right out of the shower on very wet hair.

Today I received a free ebook by Jonathan Vine titled, Vegetarian Weight Loss: How to Achieve Healthy Living & Low Fat Lifestyle (Weight Maintenance & Heart Healthy) (Special Diet Cookbooks & Vegetarian Recipes Collection Book 1)

I read it all back to back right away and do appreciate the information.  I did know a little about being a vegetarian since I have been one for a year and a half now.  I am a big carb eater and can verify as the book states, you will not lose weight if you are eating too many carbs, like bread and pasta.  This is my downfall, along with tortillas and rice.  

When I first became a meatless eater, I was a vegan for 8 months. I then started craving eggs and cheese.  I gave in and decided to eat very little of each.  This book will work for you if you follow it to a T.  If you think just because you become vegetarian you will lose weight just like that, you might be wrong.  It takes more to it then that as outlined in the book. He suggests how to go gradually into a vegetarian diet, as it would be easier than just cold turkey.  That is good advice since most people are still on the fence, even after years of thinking about it.  

UPDATE JUNE 20 2014:

I have been using some of these recipes for about a month now and I can tell you that they are delicious and awesome!  I really liked a few recipes and LOVED four of them.  They will be regular meals in my meatless repertoire.  Even if you are not a vegetarian, these could be good "meatless Monday" meals for you and your family to enjoy.  I tried to follow the diet, less carbs, more plant food.  I did lose 2 pounds this month, so it does work.  If you are more diligent about it, you could lose more. 

 Vegetarians can be unhealthy or healthy.  If you want to be a healthy vegetarian, follow this diet plan!

The 4 recipes that stand out for me and happen to love and have made are:

FREE Nail Cones - Paint Your Nails At Home Like A Professional & REVIEW

Today I received a sample pack of Nail Cones.  My sample pack only shows 15 in the picture, but in each retail pack there are 60.  I don't have long luxurious nails.  I've only gotten a few manicures in my lifetime.  I just don't like what happens to your nails after putting false ones on.  So, I'm stuck with short nails, that break.  I love the concept of painting my nails, but I have avoided  it a lot due to the way I paint my nails.  I get the polish all over the sides and tips of my fingers.  The Nail Cones have officially made painting my nails fun again.  I know when I put these on, I won't have to worry about getting the excess polish on the tips of my fingers.  I'm a righty, so when I paint my right hand with my left hand, it looks like a two year old did it.  After using the Nail Cones, there was NO polish on the tips of my fingers.  I was so proud of myself.  I know I shouldn't take the credit, it was really all the NAIL CONES doing!!!  Great product for young girls and all the way up to the elderly.  Great for  stocking stuffers or a cute idea for birthday party favor gifts!

I put them on for the first time and was a little slow.  Not as fast as the YouTube video below.  It was a little awkward at first, but practice makes perfect.  I had to do one hand and let it dry before I could get the other hand set up with the stickers.  I would definitely wait for the nail polish to dry before peeling the Nail Cones off, just to be sure you don't smear your pretty perfect nail job.  I peeled the Nail Cones off and was impressed with the way they kept the polish away from the tip of my finger skin.  Now I can't wait for Toe Cones.  I wonder if they are in the works!

The only recommendation I have for the Nail Cones, is to make them in various sizes.  For example, like an at home manicure kit has different size nails to match your different sized fingers.  It would make it easier to put the Nail Cones on the sides of your fingers.  I think it would help a lot more with keeping all of the polish off every part of your finger, not just the tip of your finger.  I did two coats on the finger in my pictures, so maybe a little leaked underneath the sides of the Nail Cones.

EDIT: 6/1/14  They supposedly come in different sizes (3 different sizes), but my sample sheet looked like it only had one size.  This might be why it took me awhile fitting them around the sides of my nails.  I would need to have all sizes to determine if this was the case.  I still like the concept of the Nail Cones and would be willing to try again with all 3 sizes.  I am certain these would work perfectly with all 3 sizes available to use at once.

I've used this numerous times and each time I suspected my mini pin peed somewhere, I found it. I felt like I was in an episode of CSI flashing it in the dark looking for the evidence.  It was kind of fun.  But then you find the disgusting white circle glowing (and smelling) and you realize it's not that fun anymore.  there is a nice wrist lanyard that you can use so that your light doesn't fall into any pee piles!  Wrapping it around your wrist before you begin your search is a great idea!  My dog has apparently been going in the dining room leading out to the porch. She's getting old, so now I can find out where she makes her little trail of urine. It's rather gross to see the spots I missed before getting this urine finder. The batteries were easy to install. You can replace them once the factory ones get weak. Seems that factory batteries DO NOT last long and they should be replaced as soon as possible with your normal brand AAA batteries (3 of them). This will no doubt give it a brighter light. The UV Sight Flashlight really works though. You can use this for other UV related ideas too, not just for Urine findings, how fun!  Many other body fluids that contain fluorescent molecules, like blood and semen will show up real nice too. UV Sight works as stated and it is very handy to have around.  It has a nice heavy metal feel to it.  It is not cheap plastic.  This model should last a long time, though they offer a 60 or 90 day money back guarantee on it.  There ad says 90 in the title and 60 in the description, so I wasn't sure which it was.

Today I received a free copy of a Chance for Love: Dangerous Romance by Rachelle Ayala.  I received an ebook to read on my Kindle.  I am going to read each one and write my thoughts as I go.  I will be updating this post during my readings and publishing the post once I have finished the 3 books.

I like romance books so I was excited to read this.  It is always fun to discover new writers.  I love the way the Internet allows authors, that are not household names, to get their books out there.  I think more people should be reading in general, but also reading books by authors they have never heard of before.  I am hoping to spread the word about this author.  I will be updating this as I read the books.

The author Rachelle Ayala seems to write many genres in one book.  I just learned about her and skimmed her website and do know that she is a risk taker and not afraid to write her own way.

  Rachelle Ayala writes inside and outside of the box, and maybe even around it too.

This is a steal getting these 3 books for this price! WOW!

Broken Build
Notes while I am reading this book:
I liked the storyline and loved the unconventional type romance that was portrayed in this book.  This book was along the lines of a murder mystery type romance.  During the second chapter a plot twist made me say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?  I was thinking someone was going to be the love interest but indeed I was WRONG!!!!  It kept you guessing and wanting to read more to find out what was going to happen next.  Even if the usual book you read is a soft romance like a Nicholas Sparks book, you should give this a try.  It should peak your interest, but you need to give it to the 3rd or 4th chapter to get used to the storyline and the writer's unique storytelling.

During some of the story, I didn't understand the technical terms Jen and other characters were talking about with their work.  I might have to be an engineer or programmer to get them.  What kept me intrigued was the suspense.   I couldn't wait for the steamy scenes and I wasn't disappointed when I got there.

Hidden Under Her Heart *(my favorite out of the 3)*
Notes while I am reading this book:
This book just started off so sweetly, unlike the first book.  This book had a tender feel to it.  The writing flowed and was easy to follow.  Maryanne is a professional nurse and she's sworn off sex.  But Lucas has been trying to win her over with flowers, chocolates, and a quirky sense of humor.  She plays hard to get.
But then he pulls back.  Then she pulls back. Then he pulls back. It's a never ending cycle with these two.  In their defense, they do have a lot of things going on.  I just do not understand why they can't help each other instead of sabotaging their very real connection!

I teared up at the end of chapter 4.  It was that lovely of a conversation.

The two leads totally play cat and mouse and switch it up. Will they EVER get it right!  I love the heartwarming moments and I cannot wait until they finally get it on!  Maybe the two finally getting it on will be the happy ending! HA HA!

The ending did not disappoint.  I read this in less than a day.  I couldn't wait for what was to finally come about.
Sweet book.  I liked this one much better than the first one.


Knowing Vera
Notes while I am reading this book:
This book was good.  I was turning the pages to find out what happened next.  It was the same as the first book.  With that I mean that it was written with a mystery and romance.  Vera was the girlfriend in the second book to Maryanne.  I think!  I like the concept of writing romance with mystery.  It is a nice touch.  I didn't get to finish this book, only 4 chapters to go.  I am hoping to finish tonight!

5/9/2014 FIRST DAY USING the fogless shower mirror:  The fogless mirror was easy to install.  It was up in a minute.  It stuck nicely and seems extremely sturdy.  It seemed as if it had a plastic feel to it.  It didn't seem like normal glass mirror material.  That is really a non-issue though.  If it works, I could care less what it is made out of.  I also put up the razor holder that came in the box.  That was just as easy to install.  It holds different size razors.  I tried a female razor, and a male razor.  No razors don't have genders!  I was talking about razors geared to women and men, the shapes are different.  But let's get back to the main subject.  The fogless mirror looks good in the shower.  It doesn't look cheesy.  If you stand back from it and look at yourself, (this is when you walk into the bathroom with the shower curtain open) you can see that you look like you're in a funhouse in the reflection.  It kind of makes me sick to my stomach.  So just look at yourself when you're in the shower and you'll be OK.  I used it to wash my face in the shower today.  It was nice to see what I was doing for a change, instead of just feeling around on my face like Helen Keller.  I saw exactly where I put my face mask on my face and didn't get it into my eye (which is the usual).  The mirror did get wet with water droplets.  It never fogged up.  I took a nice hot shower for about 15 minutes.  It was my calgon take me away shower, you know, the only time I get to myself.  I figured it would work on day 1.  Let's see how I like this after a couple weeks.

EDIT 6/1/2014 : UPDATE AFTER USING:  Well it's still fogless!  I have looked into this every time I take a shower.  I've never seen it fog up or even come close.  I like it a lot.  I don't shave my face, but maybe I should since I am from Italian descent.  If I was to shave my face, I would always want a Cassani Fogless Mirror with me. This mirror is removable from the hook in the shower so I can take it with me on trips.  If I was a man, that would really be awesome for shaving my face.  It would help to eliminate getting little hairs all over the sink.  As a female, I use it to make sure my face mask applies evenly.  I am happy with this fogless mirror because it works!  I can put my face masks on in the shower without getting any of it in any of my face hole's.  I even watched myself wash my hair, watched the soap get from nothing to all foaming up on my head.  That was a real treat.  Good times.  I'd give this mirror a 5* out of 5 stars.  There's nothing to complain about.  It works for the intended purpose.

I will totally update this review if I ever change my mind or if it stops working.  I do not think it will though.  If it does, I am getting emails from Cassani weekly on how to clean my mirror.  I am sure the company would tell me how to make my fogless mirror work again, if in fact it ever starts fogging up. I highly doubt it will though.  Thank you Cassani for making a mirror like this!

Today I received a free full size sample of Valentia Even Glow Face Serum.  Below is my review.  I am going to use this for two weeks and update how I think this product works.

Okay so I used it for one month.  I have to say first off this smells amazing.  It smells like I'm standing in an orange blossom field.  If I could bottle that smell into a candle, I would do it.  How wonderful it makes me feel as I am applying it.

I noticed a change within 3 days of putting on the Even Glow Face Serum.  My face looked more smooth.  I have a few reoccurring blackheads on my nose, they too retreated back into my skin.  I felt like my skin was glowing.  I was shocked that this actually worked.  I never seem to have good luck with beauty products, but I realize this is not something I can get at Walmart.  This is a high quality, high end facial item.  The 4th day in, I asked her if she thought my face looked different.  She said it did.  I didn't even tell her I was using anything different than I have been.  She said it looked more even.   I told my mother to use it for a week to see how she liked it.  I then forgot to give it to her, or maybe not.  I was afraid to be without it I think and blame it on forgetting.

I kept looking in the mirror and noticing my cheeks were slightly red.  It really did make my face glow.  I am beyond impressed with this Serum.  I knew Vitamin C was good for you and this product proves it even more.  I will be looking for more of this when I run out!  I hope they come out with a Vitamin C Even Glow Mask next!

Bottom line:  TRY THIS FOR A WEEK AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!  After the 7th day (or before), I bet your skin will be more even and better looking.

FREE Mrs. Meyer's Counter Top Spray in Lavender & REVIEW

Today I received a free full size bottle in Lavender of  Mrs. Meyer's Counter Top Spray .  I also received an activity booklet and another booklet about cleaning.

I used this the first time on some really messy counters with dried syrup and something else I didn't really know what it was.  I sprayed this generously on every part of my counter I could and let it sit for a few minutes.  I wasn't prepared for the overwhelming smell of a mock lavender that smelled more of cleaning supply then lavender.  It was a lot of smell that I couldn't take anymore, so I quickly wiped the counters.  I did have to scrub the syrup for a few minutes, but it did come off with this cleaner.  The counters looked exceptionally clean and I was happy about that.  The only thing I can say bad about this spray, is the smell.  The smell lingers also for about 2 hours after you use it.  I had three people ask me what that smell was on different occasions.  They were not fans of the smell.  I liked the spray, but maybe do not make the smell so strong.  I liked that the ingredients were not as harmful then most leading brand cleaners.  This says on the back of the bottle, 98% natural.  So there is 2% that is something man made in there.  I think that's not too bad, but if you're looking for something 100% natural, then this wouldn't be for you.
