Today I received a 1 pound block of 100% Organic Raw Unrefined African Shea Butter from Beauty by Shea to review.I opened it up and realized it was a nice big block. I did not know that it was going to be in a block, for some reason, I thought it was going to be already in a lotion form. After that initial shock, I was really happy to see it come in the block form, so I could make my own lotions and soaps. I have never done that before, but I plan on making some in time to try it before the holidays. Homemade shea butter lotion for stocking stuffers. I think it sounds good.
Ok, so if you’re family or friends, pretend you didn’t read that!!!!
I really loved using this straight from the block, (it was more like a squished block.) Due to the heat, the block got a little soft on it’s way to me, so it wasn’t actually a block. I would suggest that you two day this product or even overnight if you want it in the block as shown in the first picture.
I put a dime-quarter sized piece of the block in my palm. The directions said it will just melt in your palm. It really did! The middle of my palm still has a little piece that did not “melt” completely. Around that piece is how the shea butter softens out and then you can apply.
